Questions
What is a humanist celebrant?
A humanist celebrant is a person who is not associated with any faith organisation and focuses on individual people and the values that are unique to them. Jules will be happy to help create a ceremony that is personal to the couple and their family using whatever rituals, reading, or songs requested by the couple.
Will the ceremony be legal?
Yes. In Scotland a celebrant can conduct a wedding in a legally binding way, providing the couple has submitted paperwork to the local authority registrar office and has an approved marriage schedule.
Can we have the ceremony outdoors?
Yes. In Scotland a wedding ceremony can take place in any location from a garden to the top of a hill.
Can we write our own vows?
Yes. There is one small section that is required to be included for legal reasons, but you are free to include any vows that are personal to you.
Do we need to have witnesses?
Yes. In Scotland you will require two witnesses. These can be any adult that you choose and will sign your marriage registrar with you.
We are not such what should be included in a ceremony. Will the celebrant help us choose and prepare?
Yes. Jules can offer advice of common structures of ceremonies, but also offer advice based on you as an individual couple to help to make it personal and authentic to you.
Can we change dates if Covid government restrictions force us to cancel?
Yes. The usual non-refundable booking fee will be carried forward to your new date if you have had to cancel due to government restrictions.
